Thankyou so much to the community at St Nics who have donated a huge ammount of items both to our Clothes Bank and Christmas Appeal. Many of these items were new and will make such a huge difference to the asylum seekers and refugees in Nottingham that we are supporting. Thank you so much for your generosity at such a difficult time.

Our next Open Evening will be held on the 12th November online on Zoom. Join us to hear about the work of Host Nottingham, as well as stories from volunteers, hosts and guests and how you may become involved. It is sure to be a wonderful encouraging evening which you can join in with from the comfort of your own home!
To receive the Zoom invite to the meeting, please email hostnottingham@gmail.com We are tremendously grateful to Shoe Aid who have delivered and donated over 70 pairs of shoes to our clothes bank - shoes which we have already begun to distribute to asylum seekers and refugees in Nottingham. THANKYOU!
We are very pleased to announce that Host Nottingham has recently received some funding, a sum of £10,000 from the Respond and Adapt funding grants in partnership with NACCOM, Migration Exchange and Refugee Action.
During the last few weeks our clothes bank volunteer led by Clothes Bank Manger Rita Cannon has been working tremendously hard in organising, labelling and tidying our clothes bank ready to receive referrals again. It's looking fabulous! During the Coronavirus Lockdown, Host had a very special Open Evening via Zoom. It was a wonderful evening where our chair Jane Henson spoke about the work that Host do, as well as hearing stories from those that have hosted asylum seekers and refugees in Nottingham and their experience. We also were very pleased to have join our meeting some of our previous guests; it was a great to hear the difference a spare room makes to asylum seekers and refugees first hand! Here are a few snippets from the evening, explaining the different ways we support asylum seekers and refugees in Nottingham. Watch below! Do you have any MEN'S TRAINERS (size 7-12) that you'd be willing to donate to asylum seekers and refugees? If you think you can help and for drop off information, please get in touch.
You can get in touch via facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/hostnottinghamrefugeeforum/ Or by email here: hostaccompanying@gmail.com Thankyou! Our chair, Jane Henson, has written an article explaining the collosal challenges faced by asylum seekers and refugees during the Covid-19 pandemic and the precarious housing situation they face as lockdown begins to ease.
The article explains what we have been up to during the Covid-19 pandemic and some new ways we are looking to expand the work of Host Nottingham, particularly by working with local agencies to try to find permanent private rented accommodation for refugees. Read the full article here: https://www.dioceseofnottingham.uk/information/diocesan-commissions/justiceandpeace/hosting-refugees-nottingham As part of the national annually celebrated Refugee Week, we are hosting an open evening, this year on Zoom (as a result of the Covid-19 restrictions).
On Thursday 18th June at 7:00pm - 8:30pm we will be hosting a very special open evening. Come and find out about the amazing work that we do to support Asylum Seekers and Refugees in Nottingham, hear stories and experiences from both our hosts and guests, as well as how we've been responding to the Covid-19 crisis and much more! To receive the zoom meeting details, contact us via email or phone from the flyer below - we're so excited to see you there! Currently, Host Nottingham has made the decision to take on No NEW GUESTS at the present time. This decision has not been made lightly, but as a response to the government guidelines regarding the Covid-19 virus at this unprecedented time and because hosting can no longer take place in the format that we would usually operate. We have spoken to all our hosts about the current guidelines and happily we can say that many have decided to carry on hosting their guest, despite the challenges this may cause. We will continue to safeguard both our guests and hosts and update you as the situation changes.
