What is a Host?
Our Hosts offer an asylum seeker or refugee accommodation on a temporary basis in their own home, usually a spare room. The host can house someone for a few days, weeks or up to a maximum of three months. It is completely up to the host to offer whatever they can and are comfortable with.
How do I become a Host?
1. Show your interest
Email us at hostnottingham@gmail.com and let us know that you're interested in hosting an asylum seeker or refugee. We would LOVE to hear from you. Registering your interest - does not commit you to Host!
2. We will meet you
If you want to pursue hosting, we will meet you at a convenient time to discuss the hosting process, answer any questions or concerns you may have and what you feel you can offer. You will receive an information pack with FAQ's and further information on hosting. We will ask you to complete an application form and to provide two character references as well as putting you in touch with current hosts so that you can ask any questions that you might have.
3. We will get in touch
When a suitable guest has been identified, we will contact you to ask if you would be able to host at this time.
4. Your guest will arrive
If you are able to host your guest, we will arrange for you to meet them. Where possible, we will arrange a meeting prior to the placement beginning, but where this is not possible, we will accompany the guest to your home for the first meet. A simple contract will be signed, to make sure that the guest understands the living arrangements and how long they can stay.
Continued Support throughout the Placement
Safeguarding both our hosts and guests is of paramount importance to us at Host which is why we take the time to properly meet all of our guests and make sure they are comfortable with all aspects of hosting. If you have any questions during your placement, a 24/7 helpline is available. We constantly review all of our placements and will be in touch throughout to support both hosts and guests.
